Hello Sunshine!

Grabbed my computer, hopped in my truck and drove down to the campus late this morning to use the Internet. There is a deck with chairs and tables on the second floor and I am sitting here enjoying the warm weather. My sweater keeps coming on and off because when the sun is hiding behind the clouds it can get a little chilly but I am very happy to be able to sit outside at all.
Last night I had a late night at work because we had customers come in and order just before closing, but I didn't mind, more hours/more tip...
I slept in this morning, my ears are popping again, so maybe I am getting sick or perhaps it is some weird kind of allergies. I'll get lots of vitamins and rest and hopefully it will go away, whatever it is.
Next week I will start getting busier so I am not sure how I will have a chance to get online and blog, so it might have to become a weekly recap or I can type my days and add later, I'll have to figure that out...

Summer???

(Walking Troy on my road, enjoying the green everywhere)

I think spring, however short it was, is over and we are experiencing summer right now. I heard a rumor we are getting 72F tomorrow but I don't know if I believe that. It has been beautiful all week and I am really enjoying it, even though I am inside most of the time. I got a new schedule for the summer and I will be doing both jobs almost every day. One place in the morning, and one in the afternoon and evening, with Sundays off. Time will fly by and winter will be here again in the blink of an eye if I am not careful!!!
Today I was off in the morning so I have been running errands the past few hours. I found out I can use the WiFi at the college even over the summer and it's so much more peaceful here than at the library. I was going to add some older pictures today but the sun is calling me, will try to do it in the morning tomorrow.

Quick notes

Super busy day today so I will make this quick. Saturday I worked at the restaurant and I got my first share in the tips.... Liked coming home with some cash in my pocket.
Later that night I went to my friends house and watched a movie with her and her husband after their kids went to bed.
Sunday I slept in and took it easy. Cleaned my house and took a long walk, weather was very nice.
Yesterday was Memorial Day and I worked at the restaurant again. Nice tip day!
Later I picked up the furniture that my friends mother wanted to get rid off. I was so excited to get a mini office and a dresser!!!! I can't believe they just gave it to me...
Today I am working two jobs so I am in a hurry to run a few errands this morning.
Weather is awesome, wish I could get a tan but it's too cold to go to the beach...

Working girl, once again...

Ok, so after about a month of being lazy, I am back to my old ways again, working my butt off...
Yesterday I started in the restaurant and we were sooooo busy it was crazy, but I caught on pretty quick, so I think I'll be good in a few days. Coming home, I crashed on my "bed/floor" for a few hours until I had enough strength to take my dog for a walk. My legs felt like I had run a marathon.
Went back for more punishment again today, and work tomorrow too, but it looks like I'll have Sunday off, thank goodness.
Weather is great but the wind is still there making it impossible to dress cooler. Wish I could wear some summer clothes. Tired of jeans and sweaters. Got my hair cut a little today, am still hoping it will grow long enough for another perm. I loved having curls two years ago. It sure was great getting pampered for a few minutes.

Wishing I was elsewhere...

Today my dearest friends are graduating from High School in Yakutat. I got really close to them by working with them at the AC store for over a year. I really wish I was there to watch them walk down the isle tonight, but I will be in my heart...
Congratulations Carrie, Laicee, Mikey, Kirsten, Lisa, Heidi etc...

I worked a few hours the past two days, but today I got sent home early because we were really slow, must have been because of the weather. It's sunny, around 55F. I tried to spend some time outside today and it was nice, but still a little chilly. Yesterday, Amanda, at work, turned 29, so we had cake and icecream for her, fun. She is so great!!

My friend fixed my TV for me so now I have all the local channels and a couple sports channels too. I hope I will be able to watch the European Soccer Championship that starts in a couple of weeks. That would be so awesome if I could!!!
Tomorrow I start my new job in the restaurant and I am a little nervous. Hope the boss with be happy with me. He called today and changed my hours a little, so I am almost there all day tomorrow instead of just 3,5 h in the morning as was planned. Good, throw me right into the "mess" and I'll learn!!!

Blogg slacker!

Sorry for not writing the last few days. I'll try to do better.

I was right about Amanda from work. She will be a good friend even outside work. On friday night she drove me to her parents house because they have some furniture they wanted to get rid off and I could use. I'll get to pick up a big "office cabinet" next weekend and maybe a dresser too. They were all so sweet!

On Saturday I went Yard Sale shopping and found a black file cabinet, perfect for my paper piles. Then I met up with Amanda and her two boys, Sean and Joseph and we went to the Carnival for a few hours. I had SO much fun, felt like a little kid again. Her boys are so cute and Amanda is so easy to get along with. Went to lunch, checked out some more yard sales and got home around 5p.m. and took a nap. Maybe I am not a little kid anymore, was exhausted after all the fun! I think I am getting a cold because my ears are popping, so I am sure that is why I was able to sleep during the day. At least that is what I am telling myself.
Last Wednesday I went to the movies to see a horror movie based on a book I read last fall. I kept telling everybody they were going to make a movie out of it and I was right. It started out great, but then they ended up changing a lot from the book that they really didn't have to, so I was a little disappointed in the end, but it still worth going. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, my friends showed up and asked if I wanted to go to a pre-screening of a movie for the employees of the theatre. Of course!!! I am always up for a movie... So I ended up watching movies from 8:30-1:15 a.m. that night. A little crazy but oh so fun! Maybe I should try to get a shift at the theatre so I can get free movies and popcorn anytime I want to!?
On Thursday night I went to a Youth String Orchestra concert. My friend Maria plays the violin and it was a beautiful concert. I really enjoyed it! They were so talented!

I applied at a popular local restaurant last week and it looks like I'll start by the end of the week. I hope it works out, I'll stay busy between my two jobs and a few summer classes.

Spent most of yesterday unpacking and bringing the last few boxes from the storage unit I rented for one month, so now I am officially moved in.

Day 3 at the photostore.

When I walked outside this morning, I could smell spring. It smelt so fresh after the rain and it put me in a really good mood.
Went back to work again and I got to develop some more photos. I really like my co-workers, especially one girl. I think we can become good friends, even away from work.
Weather is nice and sunny, but windy and cold at the same time.

Mother's Day

Troy snuggling
(Sunday, May 11, 2008)
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers!
We got some rain today, it's been very dry lately so it was nice to see the dust settle a little.
My friend's husband came back from fishing tonight so I went over to babysit while she picked him up from the airport, and then I stayed for a movie and talked for a few hours. I didn't get home till 2:30 a.m. Late night, but fun.

Yard Sale Day

(Saturday, May 10, 2008)

I was on a mission today. Got up pretty early and went hunting for furniture. I didn't find any bitg items like a bed or bookcases, but I still scored some fun things for my home, very cheap. The best thing was my $2 curtains I found at my friend's yardsale. They fit perfect, and my window is my absolute favorite thing in my apartment.
I also got a wooden magazine holder for $1, closet organizer $1, a few kitchen items for 50cents, free rags/towels, TV stand $5 etc. It was a fun day. Maybe I'll find a bed next week...

Homephone

I am back at the library again. Was able to add a few photos to older blog entries, so take a look if you haven't already. Had to spend the whole morning at home, waiting for the phonecompany to show up and hookup my phone, but eventually they did show up. Just in time too, because I only have about 10 min. left on my cellphone plan for the next week. Don't want to go over and pay a fortune!
I also had a friend stop by and gave her the "grand tour" of my little hole-in-the-wall... It's nothing special but I am still very happy and thankful to have found it. It is really perfect for me and Troy.

Day two on the job.

I liked work even more today, because I was able to develop three rolls of film all by myself (in a machine) and started learning about prejudging the colors on the photos before printing them. Only worked 3 hours today, but am on the schedule 10 hours next week, so I am happy with that.
Spent some time at the library, trying to catch up on my blog etc. I miss not having internet at home, especially at night when I used to chat with my friends, but am glad there is wireless access all over town if I need it. Went to the storage unit and picked up one more load of boxes, but until I get some shelves I can't really do much unpacking. I can't wait to put my books on shelves, it will feel like Christmas to me, seeing them again...
This week I am going to several garage sales and I am hoping I can find a few things for my apartment. Fingers crossed!

Happy 15th Birthday Maria

Spring is in the air...
Loved it. Only worked 3,25hours, but I am very excited about what I will be doing if they hire me... The owners are out of town for 2 weeks, on a cruise in Europe, so I can't be officially hired yet, but it is looking promising because the girl they left in charge really liked me. At first, I will be working 2days/week, but it might be more later on.
Tonight I went to my friend's house for yummy dinner, sesame chicken and rice and birthday cake. I can hardly believe that my friend Maria is 15, she was only 8 when I first moved to Homer... Time goes toooooo fast!!!!!
We also watched Am....an Id.l. (if you know what show I mean!).
I like not having a tv at home, because I get a lot more reading done, but it is nice to watch sometimes and I had a really good time. I even voted for one of the contestants on the phone, for the very first time... I feel like such a true fan now!!!!

Possible Job...

(Monday, May 5, 2008)
Happy Cinco de Mayo, or whatever the right spelling might be...
So, I got an offer to go to work tomorrow at a business in town that do photo development, copying, sell frames etc. I am pretty excited because I've always loved photography so it will be great to work with photos, but it will probably be part-time so I'll keep searching for more work to fill the rest of my time. I am being picky because I want to find something that I will enjoy doing, because there is nothing worse that not wanting to go to work everyday. So in the meantime I am willing to be careful with my money...

Couch!!!

(Sunday, May 4, 2008)

So my first night went well. Slept really good on the floor, am not sore at all. My neighbors have little kids that makes lots of noise in my ceiling when they run around, but I guess I'll get used to that. I am sure they won't like Troy's barking, so we are even... There are lots of dogs for him to play with, but I don't like him running around by himself outside. Behind my apartment there is a good quiet road where I can take him for walks, but we see lots of moose everytime, so I am being very careful to not get too close.
Today my friends helped me pick up my free couch, so now my apartment is looking a lot more livable. If I want to get all fancy I could get fabric and make it really nice, but a blanket will due for the moment. Continued my unpacking and I am starting to feel more at home seeing my clothes and things around me... Watched 2 movies last night and 2 movies tonight. The rest of the week, I'll go on a movie fast. There are just so many movies I haven't seen yet, so I am trying to make up for lost time...

First night in new apartment

Today was move-in day. It was great to unpack things that have been packed away since 2005, mostly kitchen stuff... I think I am going to like it here. Tonight, I am sleeping on the floor since I haven't been able to pick-up my free couch yet, but no big deal. I slept on cement floors in India and the Philippines, a carpet with lots of blankets and towels on-top will be very comfy. I got an office chair, for a future computer desk, and a folding chair at a thrift store for $14.50, I am very excited about my "new" furniture...

Five day summery...

Homer sunset
Nothing too exciting happened this week. I am still staying with friends but am getting my own apartment sometime today, very excited about that.
On Wednesday I went with Soldotna with a friend and checked out a home school fair, because she is going to spend a few months in the Philippines this fall with her three kids, lucky her... Maybe I can sneak into her luggage! I loved being there back in 1997...
It was really interesting to see all that is available for the parents and children that are homeschooling. I think it's such a great opportunity for families to spend more time together in a fun way.
Afterwards we walked around in stores for a few more hours and got a few things for my apartment, like a rug and a dish rack etc. As we were driving back to Homer we got rained, snowed and hailed on, and this was April 30th!!! I guess we'll have to wait a little longer for spring.
My truck is getting the rear brakes worked on today, but after that, I hope I am set for awhile.
Like I said, nothing too exciting to report.
