Two in One

(Friday March 27

and Saturday

March 28, 2008)

Yesterday I got off work around 4 p.m. and I went to the beach with some friends and our dogs. It was wonderful "warmish" afternoon and we walked about 4 miles. Then we sat down in the sun too soak up some vitamins through our skin and rest our tired feet. We found a lot of Japanese items that had settled on our beach, mostly bottles, but we also found this yellow workhat with Japanese markings. Had some fun with it...

Later I had friends over for movies and fun. I stayed up till 4 a.m. and had a blast. Got up as late as I could this morning and went to work. It was a very long and busy day and I am thankful it's coming to and end. Turned down an icecream birthday gathering at my friend's house to go home and relax. Happy 23rd Birthday Nick.

Almost spring feelings...

(Thursday, March 27, 2008)
Met with "my little sister" Nicole (Pickle)! Big Brother, Big Sister school program has now expanded into a community program so we are allowed to leave the school property. We went for a walk to enjoy the wonderful weather. I am feeling better, still have a sore throat, but have more energy again after a lot of sleep and cold meds.
Went to the dump with my garbage, cleaned, watched some tv and baked a cheesecake. My very first one and it turned out pretty good.
Tonight, Carrie, Laicee. Mikey, and I loaded up some pallets, newspapers and the two dogs and drove out to the beach to build a fire and make smores. It was such a great night. Here we are in the photo stargazing, and later we admired the Northern Lights that were intense tonight. A perfect evening, just what I needed to snap me out my low mood. I feel great right now.

Sick and tired...

(Wednesday, March 26, 2008)
I was right, I am getting sick, and my whole body was hurting so I left work after only half a day. Went home and took some cold medicine and slept a few hours. Felt a lot better, but I am taking some more so I can wake up feeling all better on my day off.
I got a package in the mail today from my dearest friend and it was such a sweet surprise, at just the right time. Of course I am missing being back at Maui a little more because of it, which is probably "her masterplan"...
The photo is off my wall at home with the cards I have been getting these past 2 months. I smile everytime I look at them. Friends and family is what makes life so special.

Better day...

(Tuesday, March 25, 2008)
Woke up feeling more rested and the day looked a little brighter. Things are still rough and sad, but I am adjusting. After work my friends Carrie and Mikey brought me and my dog out to the beach for a wonderful walk. The stars were bright, the tide was low and it was so refreshing. Our dogs got to play and that was great because I have noticed more of the pit bull in my dog the last couple of weeks. He needs to hang out with other dogs more so he won't be so aggressive. It kind of frightened me a little, because he was always so playful and this is something new I have to learn to deal with. It was great to see them have so much fun tonight. I think part of the reason I have been feeling so exhausted is because I might be getting a cold, I can feel that my throat is getting is a little scratchy.
It's midnight so I am going to bed "early" tonight.

Exhausted in every way...

(Monday, March 24, 2008)

Just a quick hello to say I am very tired, body and mind. Very long day at work and a lot of things going on in my life. Have been getting many bad news these past couple of days from all directions, so I would like to just crawl under my covers and hide for a few days, but one night have to be enough. Tomorrow will be a better day...

Moose Roast!

(Sunday, March 23, 2008)
Had a lovely easter meal at my friend's house, other than the fact that I was late. I love eating moose, it doesn't happen often enough, so it was a special treat.
I took it really easy most of the day, layed around watched recordings from my favorite tv show about weightloss, so I can get caught up to the current show. Brought 5 gallons of gas to a friend that was stranded.
Tomorrow is another long day at the store, I'll try to get there around 8:45 a.m., so I am hitting the pillow in a few minutes. Good night!

Happy Easter!

Yesterday was another long day at work, but I was off today. I had a really good day and was able to take Troy to the beach for an hour. I had to time it in between the snow and hail and managed to stay dry and somewhat warm.
Tomorrow is Easter and I am excited to have two days off in a row. Our store is only closed three days per year, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter so tomorrow we will be closed. I might ask my boss to have a day off once in awhile to catch up on everything I want to do or just be able to lay around for a few hours. I had great plans for cooking tonight but I was out of this and that and the stores had allready closed so I ended up eating a ham wrap instead of spaghetti, and chocolate instead of cheesecake. Oh, well, maybe next week I'll cook a nice dinner.

Girls Victory!

(Thursday, March 20, 2008)

Watched the girl's game on TV tonight and they won the State Championship!!! I am so happy for them. It was a pretty good game and it would have been so fun to have been there in person.
We set up a TV on the counter and we only had about 4-5 customers during the game so I didn't miss that much. Worked over 11 hours and I think tomorrow will be a repeat, so I am off to bed now. Am excited to see the girls back again tomorrow night. Had them do some shopping for me while they were in the "Big city".
Took the photo last night, of my "Sweet Truck" during a beautiful snowfall.

Snow, snow, snow...

It really dumped on us last night and most of the day. It is amazing how much I have grown to love the snow. I guess winter will stick around awhile longer and I don't mind it at all. We are gaining more daylight and the snow brighten things up so what can be better, right!
The Yakutat girls won their game tonight so they are now playing in the finals tomorrow night. My boss is planning on setting up a TV downstairs in the store so we can actually watch the game, I hope it will work. I am doing an 11 hour day tomorrow, because as of today, we are now one less deli person, so I am going to bed in a little bit. Don't mind working the extra hours, because I will have Saturday and Sunday off this week, due to the store being closed on Easter Sunday.

I'm still alive...

(Tuesday, March 18, 2008)

Yes, I am still here, don't worry. I just got a little busy and social for a few days and didn't feel like blogging, but now I am back.
Yakutat is very quiet this week. The kids are on spring break and almost all of them, and half the town, are in Anchorage for the Basketball State Championship games that the High School girls are playing. I heard they won tonight's game. Go, Yakutat Eagles, Go!!
I hope they win State again this year.
Winter hasn't let go of this town yet. We have had quite a lot of snow the last few days. Every morning when I wake up and look outside I can't help smiling when I see the fresh white blanket covering everything.
I miss my girls, they left Sunday to go to Anchorage, and I wish I could have gone with them, but there weren't enough workers left in the store for me to be able to leave. Can't wait to see them again of Friday.

little to report

(Thursday, March 13, 2008)

It would have been a nice day to be off, but I worked instead. My boss came back to town tonight so I will be off tomorrow, hoping for some sunshine.
Worked 0ver 9 hours so I am tired, off to bed, just wanted to write a few lines.

Work and Play

(Wednesday, March 12, 2008)
The night photo was taken during my wonderful walk early this morning, around 1 a.m. The snow was fresh and crispy and everything was dusted in white.
The other photo was taken this morning right before going to work. Yakutat is so beautiful!
This morning I met with the Big Brother, Big Sister coordinators that are in town for a few days this week. They are expanding the schoolprogram to a community program so we can meet with our "littles" outside of school starting next week. That gives us more options to have fun other than playing basketball and computer lab.
My boss went out of town for an emergency dentist appointment so I was "left in charge" today and tomorrow and all went great. Keep my fingers crossed the power doesn't go out tomorrow!
Hung out with friends for a few hours after work, just watched a movie. I'll go to work earlier tomorrow so I am off to bed now.

Movie night

(Tuesday, March 11, 2008)
Didn't take any photos today so I am posting another photo from last night.

The weather was crazy today. We had blue sky, then snow, blue sky, then snow.... Right now huge snowflakes are coming down outside, but we'll see if it last over the night.

I had some co-workers come over for a movie tonight and it was really cozy. I had to look Troy in the bedroom so we could relax without him running around barking and wanting to play. I am taking him for a walk now, to make it up to him, poor guy.

Beach

(Monday, March 10, 2008)
The girls are back and I am so happy to see them again. The day was cold but beautiful with blue skies. So after being stuck inside all day, after work we loaded up a pallet in Carrie's truck and Carrie, Mike, Laicee and I drove out to the beach and tried building a bonfire. We got a small one burning, but couldn't keep it going very long. It was still great to laugh, hang out and taking tons of photos!!! We brought Troy and Carrie's dog and they got a chance to burn off some extra energy.

Sore...

Woke up with a kink in my neck and a sore shoulder. I think I got hurt last night when I was walking Troy and he yanked on the leash one time when I didn't expect it. Last night I got a late phone call around 2 a.m. from a friend from out of town that was upset. We talked for about 2 hours and it was a really good conversation. I think the talk cheered up both of us. I must say it was really hard to get out of bed this morning and go to church. I think I was about 30 min. late, but I am glad I made it. The sermon was about doing things for other people and giving of your time even if it is incovenient to you. It was funny how it tied into the phonecall that last night. People that have been gone for the winter are starting to return and we had 4 more adults and 5 more kids attending last week.

Worked 2-9 today. I stayed after the store closed to finish the tobacco inventory that I started earlier.

Tomorrow my friends are returning from their trip and I am so excited to hear their stories and see them again.

The photo is of the shirt I am wearing today, and I love it. I am Superwoman!!!

One day closer to summer

Tonight is the night we lose an hour, but gain more daylight. I am very excited, because the days will feel a lot longer now. Today it was dark at 6:15-6:30 p.m., but those days are gone. The store was pretty empty most of the day because the halibut commercial fishing opened today and half the town went fishing, or maybe even two thirds of our small town. The highschool kids have been playing basketball in Ketchikan this week, trying to qualify for the State championship in Anchorage in about 1 1/2 week and the girls won their games, the boys didn't. Who would have guessed that I would become such a huge basketboll fan. I wish I could travel to Anchorage with half the town to watch the games but most of our workers will be gone so I have to stick around...
Wanted to add that Troy is healing really fast. The wound is closing up and it didn't get infected. I am so thankful.

Quiet night at home

(Friday, March 7, 2008)
Worked the day shift 8-4 p.m. and stayed super busy in the deli again. I was planning on going to a "kitchentype" party tonight, where you can buy cool little kitchen tools, but I was to exhausted to get ready and go. Instead I pulled on some sweatpants and walked Troy. He was so happy to get out, even if we got wet in the rain. I love walking him and he isn't pulling so much anymore, at least not the last few days.
It was nice to be home and relax. I am going to bed now, it's just after midnight.

A little sleepy...

(Thora, har en bild pa t-shirten du kopte, passar bra!)

(Thursday, March 6, 2008)

It is my day off today and it's a good thing because I was up most of the night watching movies. Had a really good time, so it's worth being a little tired. I still got up in time to meet with "my little sister" at school. We played basketball until 2-3rd grade showed up to use the gym. We ended up joining their games, and we had such a fun time!!! I laughed so hard and ran till I was out of breath, felt like a little kid again. It was great! I hope I can play for many more years to come. It sure keeps you feeling younger!
One of my sweet customers offered me some halibut (halleflundra) yesterday, so today I drove to their house and picked it up and will cook it up as soon as I get offline. I love salmon and halibut, but we gave away everything in our freezer when we left in November, so I am very thankful to get some fish to eat!
Loaded up my garbage today and drove to the dump. Yesterday my truck got some work done to it and it runs much better now. I was surprised how big the bill was though, but that always happen. Maybe I should go to school to be a mechanic, since they make so much money!
I got a lot of things checked off my to-do-list today, but I still need to clean my apartment tonight and then I am going to bed early!!! I am, really....

"Another Day In the Office"

I stayed up way too late once again, but this time I wasn't surfing the net, but reading. I haven't done much of that since I moved into the apartment and got Internet again. It felt really good to read, I have missed it! It is one of my favorite things to do and I'll try to get back into my old routines.

Most of the kids in town are gone for the baskeball tournament in Southeast Alaska, and somehow I think that has improved my internet connection. Have been able to download a lot of pictures to other websites so I might luck out and add more pictures to my blog now too. I'll try.

Three day summery

(March 1-3rd, 2008)

I apologize for not writing every day. I get really frustrated with the computer problems I am having as soon as I want to download pictures. Sometimes it works if I hit the download button 30-50 times, no kidding, and I waste so much time doing just that, and then I don't feel like blogging.

Well let me think back a few days. I did get off work on Saturday night, and hurried down to the High School to watch the end of the boys game. They were under and the game was very close for a long time, and it was a repeat of the night before with overtime and then the other team won again. I felt really bad for the guys because they came back so well but it wasn't quite enough. It was also Homecoming night so I stayed after the game to take pictures of all the girls in beautiful dresses.

My truck is parked at work right now, because it isn't starting. It did the same thing last week, but I was able to get it going after a day, but not this time. It could just be a loose connection, or the starter or maybe the fuel line, don't know yet. I am having a mechanic work on it tomorrow and in the meantime I am driving my friend Carrie's Toyota while she is in Ketchikan, for a week, cheering on the basketball teams.

I had an unexpected phone call from a dear friend in Sweden that I haven't spoken to for almost 2 years. She had tracked me down and it was great to hear her voice again.

After work I let a friend from work come over and use my internet to buy an airline ticket. I remember what it was like not having internet for years and I know how lucky I am to have high-speed when most of my friends are sitting through slow dial-up connections. I don't mind sharing when I can...

I had some new, nice pictures I wanted to post but it isn't worth my time and I don't want to ruin my good mood. I want to get to bed before midnight because I have been going to bed between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. the last few nights and it's not a good schedule to be on for me.
